Ethics
At Recanati e Restauro we believe that collaborative work is not possible without decolonising and re-imagining traditional pedagogies. All our courses are intended to center the participants, and their unique cultural and professional contexts. We know that the conservation of heritage is a complex field, and knowledge comes in many forms and from many sources. We envision this as a shared space, where participants and instructors bring their diverse experiences and journeys, and enrich each other’s practice.
For that, we work towards:
- Kindness and generosity in listening, and making space for others.
- Being inclusive and affirming of people regardless of religion, race, region, age, ability, gender, and sexual orientation.
- Making space for mistakes, disagreements, and differences of opinion.
- Being open to feedback, and self-reflexivity.
We hope to nurture connections between conservators across the world, and commit ourselves to growing and evolving as we do.
