The consolidated partnership between the Levantine Foundation, project promoter, and Recanati e Restauro saw us among the protagonists of this 4th Training Program for heritage professionals, librarians of monastic collections and university students which involved 206 delegates from all over the world. The programme was supported and financed by The British Council’s Cultural Protection Fund, in partnership with the UK Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport.
Reportage
The training involved international academics specialized in Coptic, Islamic and Christian history, and experts in codicology and conservation of ancient codex. A unique opportunity that received extraordinary participation for this extremely ambitious project. 44 delegates attended the program at the Manial Palace Museum while 162 participants from Egypt and Europe watched online, due to restrictions related to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The Programme highlighted the importance of creating an environment to share skills and expertise across the international cultural heritage sector and for laying foundations for collaboration in order to shape the future of museums and their collections across the globe” Elizabeth Sobczynski, CEO, The Levantine Foundation.
It was an honor for us to present our studio through a live demonstration of a conservative restoration carried out on an incunabulum dated 1471, belonging to the P.Clemente Benedettucci Library in Recanati.
